What is a browser?
Anyone who has been reading this blog knows that I keep saying that the average person knows very little (and often cares less) about how anything on a PC works. Nothing could confirm this position more convincingly than a series of street interviews made by Google where random people were asked, “What is a browser?” Since the browser is the software employed most often by an average PC user, you might think that most would have at least a vague idea of what a browser is. Watch this video and see. Fewer than 8% of those interviewed knew what a browser is.
Now imagine how much they know or care about how Windows works.
