Browser statistics
Every now and then it’s interesting to look at the usage statistics for the different browsers. To be sure, there is no unique way to measure which browsers people are using and vested interests can always find a metric that suits their purposes. Hence, the conflicting reports you find. However, one widely used set of numbers comes from Net Applications. Their results for August are shown below:

Commenting on these numbers, Ars Technica reports that the visitors to its site show a very different set of numbers, probably reflecting the more advanced technical level of its readers. These more savvy types used Internet Explorer only 19% against 45% for Firefox. Presumably showing quite a few Mac users, Safari enjoyed a 23% share.
On my education site vlaurie.com, recent statistics show IE at 49% and Firefox at 39%.
What browser do you use?
Update: September numbers are IE 66%, Firefox 24%.
