Seniors flocking to Facebook
According to a recent study, there has been a large growth in the number of seniors using Facebook with a 500% increase in users aged 55 and older during the past six months. There has also been a drop in the number of high school and college age users. This younger group seems to be switching to Twitter. eWeek reports:
iStrategyLabs finds a burst in Facebook users aged 55 and older from January 2009 until July, while traffic from high school and college users drops roughly 20 percent on the social network. This follows research from comScore that found Twitter use for users 25 to 54 has grown.
PC World says that this influx of seniors may mark the decline of Facebook. The reasoning is that no self-respecting teenagers would be caught dead using the same social site as their parents or grandparents.
