Can Bing be a serious threat to Google?
After various tries over a number of years, Microsoft seems to have finally come up with a decent search engine in Bing. But is it good enough to take market share from Google? Microsoft is now on the other side of the human traits that have been so favorable to Windows. On the desktop, Microsoft benefits from our strong tendency to stick with the familiar. But on the Internet, it is Google that we all know. All Things Digital notes:
JP Morgan has good news for Microsoft: Its massive ad campaign for Bing is working just fine.
The bad news for Microsoft: For most people, Google is already working just fine.
People try Bing, like it reasonably well and then go back to what is familiar:
The problem here is that for most people, there’s no problem with Google, and no reason to make a permanent switch.
