Make Google searches more fruitful

One problem with a typical Google search is the sheer number of links that Google will find in response to a typical query. It isn’t at all unusual for the results to number over a million. Naturally, no one usually looks at more than a few dozen or so. So how do you know what information treasures you may be missing because the links are buried in the mass of search results? Considering the vast number of Web pages that are involved, Google does a pretty good job of finding the better and more relevant ones. However, search optimization and other techniques can get something pretty dreadful in the top ranked links. Also, good sites are often overlooked.

Help with sifting through the myriad of links can be obtained with a browser extension called Deeper Web. There is a plug-in for Internet Explorer and an extension for Firefox. I have just begun trying out the Firefox extension. So far it looks like a helpful add-on but a final verdict waits until I have used it more.

How the add-on works is described at MakeUseOf. If you try it out, let us know your opinion.
