Check the strength of your passwords
I have written before about the importance of using good passwords and about password managers. A good password manager will generate strong passwords but maybe you prefer your own. You can do a quick check of the strength of a password at a site provided by Microsoft. Here’s what Microsoft says about passwords:
A strong password should appear to be a random string of characters to an attacker. It should be 14 characters or longer, (eight characters or longer at a minimum). It should include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
Microsoft also has an article on how to create and use passwords at this link.
If you want to get some excellent description of how passwords are hacked, give a look at this link. The article also lists some of the most common types of passwords that are used on the Web. Hackers use lists like this to help break into accounts.
