Alternative PDF reader Sumatra

Adobe PDF reader remains a security problem although Adobe has promised to patch it on March 11. Did you know that you don’t even have to open a malicious PDF to get infected by malware? If you have the thumbnail viewer enabled, all you have to do is open the folder containing a bad PDF. This happens by way of the Adobe reader shell extension.

I have several times recommended the Foxit reader as a safer, smaller, faster alternative to Adobe. However, Foxit has been pushing the Ask.com toolbar so you might look at at Sumatra. This is a small open-source PDF viewer that can even be used from a thumb drive.

One way or the other, I suggest avoiding Adobe PDF readers.
