Alternatives to Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer (the other Explorer, not Internet Explorer) is the basic interface in Windows. It provides file management, access to programs, and is involved in just about everything you do on a Windows computer. Unfortunately, many computer users find Windows Explorer to be a poor interface. There are a number of alternatives available, some free and some for sale. MakeUseOf.com has a review, The 5 Best Windows Explorer Replacements, and taps Xplorer2 as the best choice. This program has both a free and a paid version. It is my impression that all of the programs mentioned are for Windows XP and may not work in Vista.

Although I sometimes used PowerDesk back in the days of Windows 95/98, I haven’t tried any of these alternatives. I agree, however, that Windows Explorer could be improved.

Have you used an alternative to Windows Explorer?
