Brand new American presidential Web site
Proving once again that he is no slouch at understanding how to use the Internet, Barack Obama was no sooner inaugurated President of the US when the site whitehouse.gov underwent a total transformation. It’s obviously been prepared by real Web professionals.
Ars Technica comments on the site:
As Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States this morning, WhiteHouse.gov saw its own changes applied almost immediately. Featuring an all-new design, the new site touts the Obama administration’s ideals of transparency, communication, and participation.
Besides the White House logo and a similar base color scheme, the new WhiteHouse.gov site looks almost nothing like its predecessor, but it does continue the aesthetic style of the Obama transitional Change.gov site. Front and center is a rotating banner of “feature” stories and photography, and directly below that are recent posts from the new White House blog, an agenda of current hot-topic issues, and what is, at least for now, a video spot featuring Obama’s Train Tour for today’s inauguration.
