“Clickjacking” exploit
Word has been going around for some time about a security problem with Web sites known as “clickjacking”. There is a fundamental flaw in HTML that affects all browsers. As far as I have seen there are no widespread exploits taking advantage of the security hole but if readers know of any, please let us know. I haven’t posted about the problem before because until recently there has been little that an ordinary PC user could do about it . However, now there are some precautions that you can take.
One possible avenue for a clipjacking clickjacking exploit is through the ubiquitous Adobe Flash player and Adobe has posted an advisory about a workaround. The company promises a patch by the end of this month.
I have often suggested using the Firefox browser with the NoScript extension and there is now even more reason to use Firefox. The NoScript extension has just been updated so that it displays hidden links. It won’t keep you from clicking on dangerous links if you insist on being stupid, but it will at least warn you.
