Massive security breaches found
Several criminal gangs have acquired administrative log-in credentials for more than 200,000 Web sites — including the one used by the U.S. Postal Service — and have used the compromised domains to attack unsuspecting users’ PCs with a notorious hacker exploit kit, a researcher said today.
Apparently the hackers are attacking unpatched security holes in browsers and software like QuickTime and Adobe Reader. This illustrates how important it is to keep up with the latest patches. Keeping track of the constant patching can be onerous for average PC users and I will repeat my recommendation to install and use the free software from Secunia that I have previously mentioned.
