How to play any video file
Video clips now have a large presence on the Internet. Also, more home PC users are making and distributing videos. Although many files are in the common formats like Flash, AVI, WMV, QuickTime, and RealMedia, there are still many variations and formats and it is not uncommon to find that you need yet another player or codec. I have posted about this before and mentioned some possible solutions to the problem of multiple video formats.
Another solution is described at SimpleHelp:
The CCCP (or Combined Community Codec Pack) is set of video codecs and players designed to play almost any type of video file, and with a few more downloads discussed later, it will play everything you can throw at it.
The page then goes on to give instructions for installing and using CCCP as well as adding alternative QuickTime and RealMedia players. The download link for CCCP is here. I have not personally tried this software and I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used this package.
(As an aside, I note that CCCP was the Russian abbreviation in the Cyrillic alphabet for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and I assume the software has Russian authors.)
