Cable confusion
One of the common banes of life is incompatible cable connectors. The number of different types of cables and connectors on computers and consumer electronics would fill a book. Even the same manufacturer will have products with incompatible connectors. Woe betide the average home PC user who disconnects all his cables and then tries to figure out which cable connects to what.
