Compilation of free Microsoft stuff
Scattered about its huge Web site, Microsoft has a considerable amount of free stuff for downloading. You usually have to go through the annoying WGA piracy folderol to get them but some of the free applications can be quite useful. Finding them, however, is not always easy. Blake Handler has done us all a favor by collecting a list of over 150 of the Microsoft freebies at his blog. There are numerous system tools and utilities, including the Sysinternals tools that I often mention. There are developer tools, multimedia applications, and games. There are also some oddities like Word 5.5 for DOS. All in all, there is probably something for everybody.
