Software upgrade
I have done another upgrade of the blogging software. Please let me know if you encounter any problems.
Internet addiction
My wife passed along this item to me. (Is that a hint, dear?) The Telegraph (UK) has a piece, Internet addiction is a ‘clinical disorder’. It begins:
Obsessive internet use is a public health problem which is so serious it should be officially recognised as a clinical disorder, according to a leading psychiatrist.
The old frozen hard drive trick
Every now and then I go through the motions of cleaning up the two hard drives on my main desktop computer. During one of these spells, I came across some old newsletters from the now-retired Fred Langa. They reminded me how much useful information Fred’s newsletters contained. One of the many items worth repeating has [...]
Windows stop messages
Just about everybody has had Windows crash on them. The infamous “blue screen of death” is something most regular PC users have seen at one time or the other. Chinese earthquake scams

Lifehacker has two articles on the new features of Firefox 3.0. They are at these links:

Review of Firefox 3.0

And their work has paid off. Speedy performance, thrifty memory usage, [...]
Firefox 3.0 ready
Firefox 3.0 has been available since yesterday. I didn’t post about it earlier because there was a huge download effort all over the world and I was afraid that there would be server problems (there were). A download link is getfirefox.com but it is very busy as of this writing.
Microsoft, the ad agency
Microsoft continues its move into advertising. The Wall Street Journal writes:
Microsoft Corp., as part of efforts to broaden its reach in advertising, bought Navic Systems Inc., an eight-year-old company that helps advertisers place ads on television programs.
Bill Gates once said that the business of Microsoft was writing code. Microsoft is the world’s premier software company [...]
