Microsoft, the ad agency
Microsoft continues its move into advertising. The Wall Street Journal writes:
Microsoft Corp., as part of efforts to broaden its reach in advertising, bought Navic Systems Inc., an eight-year-old company that helps advertisers place ads on television programs.
Bill Gates once said that the business of Microsoft was writing code. Microsoft is the world’s premier software company and many would argue that Microsoft should stick to the business that made it rich and powerful. But that does not seem to be enough. Gates is no longer running Microsoft and Steve Ballmer seems to suffer from Google envy. Or maybe Ballmer is just an advertising man at heart. After all, he began his career at Procter and Gamble.
