How to access the BIOS setup
When you turn on a computer, it first uses some permanent memory called the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) to get things started. The BIOS contains very elementary information about the memory, the drives, etc. Most of the time PC users don’t have to think about the BIOS but now and then you may want to access the settings for the BIOS. The procedure varies from one make of PC to another and can be frustrating. Fortunately, there is a site that explains the procedure for a variety of common systems. As the article comments:
Having trouble getting in to your computer’s BIOS setup utility? If you’ve tried the basic steps for accessing your computer’s BIOS and haven’t had much luck, trust me when I say you’re not alone.
There are hundreds of computer manufacturers out there and each seem to have their own idea when it comes to designating a keyboard command to enter BIOS. There are often even huge differences in BIOS access methods between different models made by the same company!
