The browser becomes news
Mozilla is close to releasing a new version of its Firefox browser. It is interesting that the upcoming version 3.0 is considered worthy of an article on the first page of the New York Times business section. Actually, the article is about more than just Firefox. Its theme is really about how the browser is becoming the key software in the new world of Web 2.0. Microsoft is also at work on a new version of Internet Explorer. After letting IE6 stagnate for some years before finally being pushed by the success of Firefox into creating IE7, Microsoft is at work on IE8. Exactly when IE8 will be available is not clear, however.
