Delete your stuff after using public computers

When I am traveling, I sometimes use a public computer in a library, hotel business center, or other public place. I have always been surprised by how much private information previous users have left behind for anyone to see. Public places have been getting better about rebooting or otherwise removing previous information but you must always make sure that any documents you create are deleted or any account passwords are removed. For example, I’ve lost track of how many times people have left behind an open Yahoo or AOL account where I could read their email. A PC World editor describes all the stuff he found recently:

I accidentally stole your data. Unannounced mergers. Acquisitions. Hirings. Firings. Resignations. A wedding proposal. I know it all. Sorry about that.

He goes on to describe picking all this stuff in a hotel’s business center by just copying the My Documents folder.
