Be careful about bundled applications

An annoying trend is the bundling of unwanted applications with something you would like to install. For example, I do not want the Google or Yahoo toolbars but they keep popping up as accompaniments to various other applications. If you don’t watch out, they get installed along with the program you are actually interested in. When installing something like the Adobe Acrobat Reader or a number of other common applications, be sure to check what might be going along for the ride. Adrian Kingsley-Hughes has some more about this dubious practice.
