Mouse shortcuts for browsers
If you have a scroll mouse with a middle button, there are various shortcuts that take advantage of this feature. Here are three that apply both to Internet Explorer 7 and to Firefox 2:
- To open a link in a new tab, click the link with the middle button.
- To close a tab, click the tab with the middle button.
- To change the size of text in the display of a Web page, hold down the Control key and use the scroll wheel to ratchet the size up and down by 10%. For whatever reason, Firefox and IE7 have chosen opposite scroll directions for which increases and which decreases. IE7 also scrolls the size of graphics as well as text.
Here’s another browser shortcut using the mouse:
- Left double-click in an open space to the right of a tab and a new blank tab will open.
