The scams just keep coming
The so-called “Nigerian” scam and its relatives have been around for quite a while. I would have thought that by now everybody would know and recognize these types of emails as frauds. However, recently I have been getting increased traffic from supposed relatives of African ex-dictators, phony lotteries, and other dubious sources so there must still be plenty of suckers out there. Naturally, anybody who reads this blog is too smart to fall for this stuff, but you can spread the word and help others avoid these rip-offs. I was going to catalog some of the offers I have gotten lately but somebody else has posted a better selection. That author says he must be really lucky since:
In the past year or two, I have
Been selected to share $millions looted by dead African dictators,
Been selected to share $millions from corrupt Russian oil companies looted by imprisoned oligarchs,
Been selected by a dying Sheikh to receive his $millions upon his death from a wasting disease,
Been selected by Tatiana and several other East Bloc ‘beauties’ as the object of their desires,
Won the National Lottery in Spain,
Won the National Lottery in the UK, and
Been selected as one of the winners of the Olympic Games $1 Ticket Promotion.
