Windows XP service pack 3 in beta testing
Yes, there really is a Windows XP SP3. It’s been released to a group of public beta testers and some description is at this link. It seems to be mostly a rollup of previous patches and fixes although there are a few new things. I haven’t seen anything that would really grab a typical PC user. Something from the article cited here that struck me are the figures in this excerpt:
Being a major service pack, there’s a whole swathe of bundled security updates and hotfixes. The full list will keep changing as time goes on and the service pack draws nearer to final release, but at the current time there are 113 security updates and 958 hotfixes (that’s a LOT of hotfixes).
