Adobe PDF reader still has security hole
Adobe has finally admitted that its PDF readers have an unpatched security hole. The problem was first reported some weeks ago. Personally, I don’t use the Adobe reader anyway. It has become a bloated, sluggish piece of software. I use the free application Foxit, a much smaller and faster program.

Try this link. Note that Firefox downloads a PDF file and then reads it. You may have to uninstall Adobe.
Thanks for the link, Vic. I have installed the plugin but haven’t yet restarted Firefox to see whether designating Foxit Reader as the default reader in the PDF Download extension resolves the issue or whether I’ll have to uninstall Adobe’s reader. I appreciate your giving me the tip to a resolution to my dilemma.
Just so you know, after restarting FF and configuring the PDF Download Options to point to Foxit Reader, I clicked on a PDF link and FF still used Adobe Reader. I then uninstalled Adobe Reader, and afterwards the PDF Download extension worked as advertised.

I too use Foxit Reader and have set it as the default reader for PDF files, but still in Firefox, when I click on a link to a PDF file, it pulls up Adobe Reader. Any idea how I can set Foxit Reader to be the default for PDFs that occur from links on the ‘net. I haven’t yet removed Adobe Reader from my system, and that may be the solution, but I thought I’d ask if you had any advice, since you also use Foxit Reader. Thanks.
