Microsoft stealth update causes problems

Microsoft apologists claimed that there was much clamor about nothing and that it was all proper and fitting. Now it turns out that in fact the stealth update broke some functions. Scott Dunn at Windows Secrets first reported the problem and Adrian Kingsley-Hughes has a follow-up study. Fortunately for the home PC user, the broken function involves a repair feature that most will not encounter. Should anyone be having trouble from the faulty update, however, the referenced links give a work-around.
