Don’t rush to buy a laptop
Computer buyers always face the frustrating fact that, whatever they buy, something better will soon be available for the same price or even less. So generally you just have to resign yourself and buy a new system whenever it seems like the old one is no longer adequate. Sometimes, however, there is enough change in the offing for the near future that it may pay to hang on to the old system for just a while longer. If it’s a laptop you’re considering, take a look at an article at InformationWeek that reviews some developments in laptops that may be worth waiting for. The article begins:
Good things come to those who wait, says the proverb. Right now, this is very appropriate if you’re in the market for a new notebook. Unless you’re in a hurry, you may want to keep your wallet in your pocket — there are new technologies around the corner you won’t want to miss.
No matter whether you are considering a laptop or a desktop, there is the Vista factor. Sooner or later, Windows users are going to end up with Vista. Rather than switching now, you’ll probably be better off to wait until Service Pack 1 is delivered, presumably in the first quarter of 2008.
