Review of Internet movies

Broadband Internet has made the downloading or even streaming of movies to the computer feasible and more and more people are now using the Internet as an entertainment source. Personally, I’m not much of a movie watcher since movies made these days are rarely worth 2 hours out of my life. However, I’ll pass along a review of some online sources. Michael Muchmore at PC Magazine assesses five on-demand and download services.

This also brings to mind what is happening with TV moving to the web (IPTV). Here is my wife’s experience. She has a TV tuner card in her computer and had set it to record a 1/2 hour program (Mon-Fri) on HGTV cable (she is a quilter). Then later she would watch the programs bypassing the commercials. Then recently HGTV moved the program from TV cable to a website with streaming video. She no longer has to record the programs. She can watch them any time she wants. However, now she can no longer bypass the commercials! Further, now HGTV gathers a lot of data about her.
