Help to search more securely
Online surfing can be hazardous these days if you don’t take some precautions. There are various approaches to safer surfing and I have posted on the subject a number of times, including a series on protective steps to take. One possible aid to safer surfing is to check out links that show up in a search that you do before you actually go to that link. Some software to check links is reviewed in PC Magazine. Neil Rubenking writes:
Have you ever been spammed because you ordered some tchotchke online? Or purchased goods from a merchant site that absconded with your money overnight? Has your system been mauled by a malicious exploit code from a seemingly innocent page? It would be nice to know you’re heading in to danger before disaster strikes. Thankfully, there are a number of products, mostly free, that can steer you away from these and other kinds of problems.
Rubenking reviews the four applications Calling ID 1.5, Link Scanner 2.0, SiteAdvisor, and TrendProtect.
