Google calculator tricks

Google isn’t just a search engine but has a lot of tricks and special functions. One feature that I like is the Google calculator. It isn’t that it does the usual calculator stuff like multiply and extract square roots. While all these usual functions are available, they are usually more conveniently done on the desktop with Windows calculator and a calculator feature would be pretty ho-hum if that’s all there were to it. What appeals to me is that word entries can be used for unit conversions. For example, to find out how many tablespoons are in a pint, enter into the Google search bar the phrase “tablespoons in pint” (without the quotes). Or if you want to know how many pints are in three gallons, enter “pints in 3 gallons”.

Some may also like the ability to use words in regular calculations such as “cube root 3″, “log 3″, “ln 3″, or even “hyperbolic cosine 3″.
