Ballmer bad-mouths Google
Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, really seems to be obsessed about Google. Instead of tending to the running of Microsoft, he keeps spending time making nasty comments about Google. I guess it’s competition by bad-mouth. Actually, it’s more like schoolyard bullying, which is a method of dealing with competitors that Ballmer (and others at Microsoft) seem to favor. Instead of engaging in name-calling, Ballmer should grow up and devote his time to seeing to it that Microsoft products work. There are many Web references to Ballmer’s attempts to belittle Google but here is one:
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, spoke at Stanford University the other day, calling Google a one-hit wonder, mocking Google’s personal time concept and calling their growth expectations “insane.”
Over at InformationWeek, David DeJean comments:
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer yesterday bad-mouthed Google for being successful at only one business (even though it’s a business Microsoft has been trying unsuccessfully to break into). But the target doesn’t matter. It could have been Linux. Or Apple. I’m just worn out by the repetition. Ballmer’s trash-talking is a tired routine. He needs to get a new act.
