Those hard to find 800 numbers

Some companies seem never to want to talk to any of their customers. Nowhere in their literature do they list a telephone number for customer service. They usually have a Website where sometimes, but not always, there is an email address. If you have a problem and send an email, however, you get a canned response that answers in generalities or refers you to a FAQ. For example, I use a number of services from Yahoo. On occasion I have a situation that requires some interaction with the company. It is almost impossible to find a way to communicate with a human, however, and sometimes I wonder if the entire customer service department consists of a computer. Amazon is another company that is notorious for being a place where it is hard to find a human being.

Fortunately, there are persistent souls who have ferreted out the hidden telephone numbers for a variety of companies and they are listed at this site. Amazon is 800-201-7575 and Yahoo is 866-800-8092. Of course, you may still get an automated machine and no human. In that case, there is another site that I have mentioned before that will give you the tricks necessary to achieve contact with a live person.
