Survey of consumer satisfaction

Every year PC Magazine sends out a questionnaire to its subscribers to gather information about how the readers feel about various products. The 19th annual survey is out and it is well worth reading.

Whose PCs and printers are the most reliable? Who offers the best support when things go wrong—and the best repairs when things go really wrong? For the answers—and much more—dive into our 19th Annual Reader Satisfaction Survey

I always consult the latest survey before I buy any hardware. The best way to find out how products perform is to hear from the actual users. With all due respect to PC Magazine, I have to say that I generally find this type of information to be more reliable than the product reviews by the magazine staff.

One interesting result is that Mac users are the most satisfied with their computers in both the desktop and the notebook categories.

Apple- Steve & Co. score better than every other desktop vendor in every category—by a wide margin. The most amazing part? The company’s repair rate is down to just 8 percent.

Yes, Apple is the king of the notebook world, too. As with desktops, the company’s notebook scores are far and away the best of the survey. Its overall score is a 9.1 out of 10. The next highest score? An 8.4.
