Love and hate for Google

Love it or hate it, Google is a mighty force in determining what people decide to view on the Web. A Google ranking can make or break a site. Recent statistics show Google with almost 60% of the market. For my personal sites, logs show Google to be the overwhelming choice for visitors, with 90% of search engine referrals coming from there.
Google ranking is so important that an entire industry exists that is devoted to finding ways to optimize sites for better ranking. A poor ranking has even led to a law suit against Google. For better or worse, intended or not, Google has a lot to say about what gets viewed on the Web.
