Things to consider when buying a PC
Anybody who has ever bought a PC is probably familiar with the seemingly inevitable situation that shortly after you get a new PC there are better ones available at a lower price. The pace of change in PCs has always been rapid but this year there are likely to be even more developments than typical. A lot of hardware changes are occurring and the new Windows operating system Vista is scheduled for release in the fall.
Anyone contemplating the purchase of a new PC will need to take into consideration a number of possible factors. In addition to such standard considerations as the amount of RAM, the size of the hard drive, and the video memory, there are new ones such as serial hard drives, 64-bit computing, and dual-core CPUs to think about. In the next few pages, we’ll look at 10 major factors to consider in making a PC purchase today. Yes, the number 10 is somewhat arbitrary, but you’re free to add to or delete from this list as you see fit: It’s a place to start, and to help ensure that your hardware purchase decisions include some of the most important influences.
